Always passed by The Savoy in London on my way back from uni as a student many years ago. Never knew there was one in Melbourne. Nothing to complain about. Everything was perfect. Only downside was I only got to stay one night before leaving for the airport the next morning. It is conveniently located across the road from Southern Cross, and plenty of food options around even until late, or even from very early. Very easy to take the trams to Bourke St etc. The toiletries smelled heavenly, made me feel like I was at a spa. I checked in super early at around 10 plus and I was very pleasantly surprised to be told that my room was ready. Staff were super helpful. My debit card didn't work initially which was stressful and they helped figure out that it needed to have the pin keyed in because I was overseas. I didn't know how to turn on the electricity in the room and the cleaner showed me that they have a master switch instead of the usual thing where you slot in your keycard to turn on the power.

I chose The Savoy because it was close to Southern Cross station and it was good value for $$ and brekkie was included. Location was perfect, not just because of the station, but the tram system was really easy and free. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a beautiful old building that has been very well kept. The room was spacious, clean with everything you needed (though there are never enough hooks, are there). Brekkie was huge and assorted.....loving that there was fresh fruit & yoghurt. Will definitely do Melbourne again and we will stay at the Savoy.

Love that the Art Dec style was maintained during renovation. Spotlessly clean and stylish hotel, staff wonderful, beds and pillows were soooo comfy and aircon was very quiet, unusual in a hotel room. A very special thanks to wonderful James in the restaurant who went above and beyond, was very cheerful and made our evening drinks and dinner so much fun and memorable. Note to Management - he's definitely a keeper, look after him! Also a big thank you to Gerard who made our night so special as well.

The location of this hotel is excellent. A short walk into the main part of Melbourne City and there are numerous nearby cafes. The location is directly across from the train station so easy to access if needed. The hotel was very neat and tidy, the room was spacious and accessible. The bathroom was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and clean. We also utilized the gym whilst here and that was also very clean, minimal equipment but still very good.

Location: very convenient, right at the city centre and opposite Southern Cross station; couple of tram stops nearby as well. Service: friendly staff. Rooms: cleaned regularly. Just a bit too cold, though. I also recommend visiting the V Hotel Spa at the Lower Ground level and try one of their packages. One of the best spa experiences I've ever had! Too bad I didn't get to try the Alexander Bar, though.
